Early Bird Registration and Abstract Submission Deadline: 31 March 2019
————————————————–
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is a pleasure to invite you to participate in the 7th edition of the
interdisciplinary conference “Biomolecules and Nanostructures” to be held
in Pomlewo near Gdansk, Baltic coast, starting on May 15th 2019 in the
evening and ending on May 19th in the morning (Wednesday to Sunday).
The key topics of the conference cover current subjects on the crossroads
of molecular biology, physics and chemistry, including biomolecules,
nanostructures, nanomachines, and biosensors. The specific topics of
“Biomolecules and Nanostructures 7” in 2019 will include:
intrinsically disordered proteins,
protein folding,
assembly of protein complexes,
aggregation,
interactions between nucleic acids and proteins,
dynamics of biomembraness,
hybrid structures,
and phenomena at bio-nano interfaces.
and other issues related to molecular biophysics and biochemistry, both
experimental and theoretical.
Many well-known scientists have agreed to give invited talks, as listed at:
http://www.nanofun.edu.pl/bionano7/invited-speakers.html
The list of the talks is not yet final. In particular, a few short talks
will be selected from the submitted abstracts. The book of abstracts will
be issued within the Europhysics Conference Abstracts series, published by
the European Physical Society.
The deadline for registration, abstract submission, and making payment for
lodging and the conference fee is March 31, 2019.
The conference is organized by the Institute of Physics of Polish Academy
of Sciences in Warsaw and the Committee of Physics of Polish Academy of
Sciences, under the auspices of the Division of Physics in Life Science of
the European Physical Society.
The oncoming event “Biomolecules and Nanostructures 7” in Pomlewo is the
seventh conference in a series. The previous editions of the conference
took place in: Bedlewo near Poznan in Greater Poland, Pultusk near Warsaw
in Mazovia, Jaroszowice near Krakow in Lesser Poland, and Podlesice in
Polish Jura. One may gain insight into the scope and the list of the
international speakers of the previous conferences (2004, 2006, 2011,
2013, 2015, and 2017) by going to the website:
http://www.nanofun.edu.pl/bionano7/previous-editions-bio-nano.html
So far, we were frequently getting enthusiastic feedbacks from the
participants.
The conference will take place in a small village of Pomlewo (pronounced
Pomlevo) in the very picturesque Kashubian Lake District. You will also
have an opportunity to visit Gdansk on the way in or out. We are
considering arranging for a several-hour-long trip to the 13th-century
castle in
Malbork (paid by those who want to participate). This lovely castle was
built by the Teutonic Order as their capital (Ordensburg Marienburg).
Apparently, it is the largest castle in the world as measured by the land
area. It served as one of the residences of the
Polish-Lithuanian-Commonwealth kings since 1457. It is also a UNESCO
World-Heritage Site.
The driving distance from the airport in Gdansk is about 30 km.
One can take a train from Warsaw or Poznan to Gdansk. We shall provide the
group transportation to Pomlewo from Gdansk airport and from Gdansk main
train station.
Registration will be on the first-come first-served basis.
Our goal is to provide an informal, creative atmosphere and highly
interactive nature of this meeting, thus the number of participants is
limited to ca. 130 persons.
The International Advisory Board consists of:
Jayanth R. Banavar, University of Oregon, U.S.A.
George D. Rose, Department of Biophysics, Johns Hopkins University, U.S.A.
Chris Johnson, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UNITED
KINGDOM
Andrzej Kłoczkowski, The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s
Hospital, Columbus, U.S.A.
Adam Liwo, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Gdańsk, POLAND
Andrzej Sienkiewicz, EPFL, ADSresonances Sàrl, SWITZERLAND
You are welcome to circulate this announcement to your co-workers and
anybody who may be interested.
We apologise for any multiple postings.
