Bilbao Advanced Biophysics Workshop on Structure-Function of Ion Channels, July 2-4, 2013

Registration for this workshop in Bilbao, Spain, is open until June 10, and is FREE.  The research project of  applicants will be taken into account for selection. Half of the applicants will be selected mainly on a “first come first served” basis, and the other half on the subjective interest of the research project in relation to the course.  A number of travel and accommodation grants will be offered.  Further details can be found at

International Workshop of Advanced Image Processing of Cryo-Electron Microscopy to be held in BEIJING from JULY 10 – 13, 2013.

This workshop is organized by the Biophysical Society of China, with assistance from IUPAB.  It will focus on the principle, algorithm and technique of image analysis for cryoEM single particle reconstruction. There will be lectures in the mornings, practice courses in the afternoons, followed by evening discussions of the in-depth application of software packages.

The three main topics for discussion are:
Single particle analysis of asymmetric particles;
Single particle analysis of heterogeneous samples;
Advanced application of image processing packages including EMAN2, XMIPP3.0 and RELION.
