This will be the fifth course on these topics given by the International School of Biophysics. The small town of Erice has a relaxed atmosphere and provides a beautiful setting for the course. The intention of the course is to bring together experts in transporter physiology, ion channel biophysics, and structural biology both to teach and to discuss the structure and function of channels and transporters. Full details are available at http://channels.ge.ibf.cnr.it
Following the 18th IBC to be held in Brisbane, Australia in August 2014, the Human Heart Tissue Forum will be held on Heron Island on the beautiful Great Barrier Reef from August 8 – 12. Since 1989 the Sydney Heart Bank (SHB) has continued to build a large (>25,000 samples) collection of human heart tissues. Over this 25-year period, about 70 research groups have accessed this bank of tissue, and over 60 publications have arisen.
The main purpose of this satellite meeting is to facilitate the personal exchange of research data between as many users of the SHB as possible.
More details will be made available as soon as possible. Please see the Forum website which is http://humanhearttissue2014.org/
This Prize consists of a cash award, as well as a Medal and a Certificate. It will be presented at the conference in Beijing, China in June 2014.
