IUPAB-SBBq-SBBf Young Scientists Program (YSP), São Paulo, Brazil, October 22th to 24th, 2020

Invitation letter

 

Dear Colleague,

 

The International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB), the Brazilian Biophysical Society (SBBf) and the Brazilian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SBBq) and will jointly host the 20th IUPAB, 45th Annual SBBf Meeting and 49th Annual SBBq Meeting in Brazil, October 26-30, 2020. The venue for this conference will be the beautiful city of Foz do Iguaçu.

 

As part of the scientific activities, a satellite IUPAB-SBBq-SBBf Young Scientists Program (YSP) will be held in São Paulo, Brazil, October 22th to 24th, 2020. This program, aimed toward students and recent PhDs, will provide a unique opportunity for 40 young scientists from different countries to discuss their scientific results, novel ideas, and career development. Participants in the YSP will be selected from candidates worldwide and will receive free registration for both the YSP and IUPAB-SBBf-SBBq Congress, as well as shared accommodation. Further funding requests are underway with the aim to cover travel and other local costs expenses.

 

Applications for the 2020 YSP will be open from May 1st to October 1st 2019. Please consult http://iupab2020.sbbq.org.br/ for updated information, and distribute this message to your colleagues.

Eligibility

 

Applicants should:

 

1.    Be students or post-docs up to five years after the conclusion of their PhDs.

2.    Be a member of IUPAB-related national or international societies, IUBMB related societies, and regional-associated organizations, SBBf and SBBq. Students of advisors that are members of any of these organizations may also apply.

 

Applicants must:

 

1.    Complete the digital form available here.

2.    The submission form contains an area to include an abstract. The applicant must be the first author of this abstract.

3.    The submission form also includes an area for a brief personal motivation statement.

4.    Submit a current curriculum vitae (CV).

5.    Submit a signed recommendation letter from their mentor, and proof of being a member of any IUPAB-related national or international society, as mentioned above.

6.    Prepare a single pdf file containing all of the requirements listed above and e-mail it to iupab2020@sbbq.org.br by October 1st, 2019

Benefits

 

If your application is successful you will receive:

1.    Accommodation (in shared rooms) in São Paulo during the YSP.

2.    Registration and accommodation (in shared rooms) for the IUPAB-SBBf-SBBq International Congress in Foz do Iguaçu.

 

All efforts are being made by the organizing committee to obtain additional funds to cover for travel costs of participants to both venues.

All of the awardees must present their work orally during the YSP in Sao Paulo, and as poster during the IUPAB-SBBf-SBBq International Congress in Foz do Iguaçu.
